Emotions Dance company members have a chance to go to New York City for a 4 day weekend of dance education with the nations top contemporary masters. Help us get there. Our goal is to raise $3,000 so that we can take master classes from the best in the business. By helping us get to NYC, you will be enhancing our dance education which will, in turn, help us bring audiences even better performances.
$3,000 is all we need to cover airfaire, hotel, food and classes from the best of the best in the industry (Ex: Mia Michaels, Desmond Richardson, Wade Robson, Brian Friedman and MORE). Help us reach our goal by July 25th!

Emotions Dance Announces Auditons for new Dancers!
Emotions Dance Auditions for new Professional Dancers –
Orlando, FL- Emotions Dance is currently seeking professional level dancers (age 18 and over) to audition for their 2011 season. Dancers must have technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following dance disciplines: ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, or contemporary dance. Auditions will take place on Tuesday nights throughout the month of October (Oct 12, 19, and 26) from 9-11pm, and will be located at Starz Studios (109 State Road 436 in Casselberry, FL).
Dancers should be prepared for ballet barre, progressions across the floor with turns and jumps, a contemporary dance combination, and should prepare a solo (under 2 minutes) to show to the Artistic Director at the end of class. Dancers should also come prepared with a professional resume and headshot. There is a $10 audition fee.
Dancers are able to sign a 3, 6, or 12 month contract. Pay is based on ticket sales for shows and other factors and can be discussed during the audition. Dancers who make the company will be expected to commit to company class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and all rehearsals which are held on Sunday evenings. Currently, Emotions Dance has two spots open for females, three spots open for males, and one trainee (between ages 12-18) spot available.
Emotions Dance was founded in August 2007 by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Larissa Humiston. Emotions Dance draws its strength from dancers of all dance disciplines and walks of life. Emotions Dance proudly aligns with causes and organizations which better individuals and groups through awareness, fundraising and exploration of the roots of societal and environmental issues. To continue providing our community with heartfelt, artistic and moving performances, Emotions Dance is currently applying for 501c3 (non-profit) status.

Emotions Dance Performs At Red Chair 2010
Emotions Dance Company will be alongside some of Orlando’s top talent at this year’s Red Chair Affair. The company will be previewing a piece from our upcoming performance Poetry in Motion and alongside spoken word artist, Tod Caviness, Emotions Dancers will use contemporary dance to tell the story of “Daughter and Sun”. Music was originally composed by local band, The Forefathers.
We are very excited to be a part of this year’s Red Chair Affair 2010. Other groups performing at this years production include, Cirque Du Soleil, Orlando Ballet, Orlando Philharmonic and Varietease.
The show will take place Saturday Aug 28 at The Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $22 and can bu purchased at www.redchairproject.com
Emotions Dance holds Masquerade Cocktail Benefit
Emotions Dance announced today it will host a cocktail benefit on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 9pm until 2am at The Peacock Room (1321 North Mills Ave, Orlando 32803). Admission for the benefit, set to include a masquerade theme, is only $5.
The cocktail benefit will feature live music from The Forefathers and Damien Simon and spoken word poetry from Orlando’s top spoken word artists (Tod Caviness, J. Bradley, Curtis Meyer and Shannon Kortbek). Also included in the evening will be a silent auction, showcasing artwork and items from such places as Winestyles, United Arts and The Plaza Theatre as well as a 50/50 raffle. Drink specials will be available and Prizes will be awarded for the evenings top masquerade outfits.
Proceeds from the evening’s events will help Emotions Dance fund their next production, Poetry In Motion, which will fuse music, contemporary dance, and live spoken word to tell stories of the human experience. Poetry in Motion is set to premiere Oct 1 and 2, 2010 at the Winter Park Playhouse.
“It’s important to me to collaborate with other artists in order to enhance our performances,” said Emotions Dance artistic director and the show’s choreographer, Larissa Humiston. “Poetry In Motion does just that. Each of the artists involved has a chance to create their art freely and in this way, the show provides audiences with a raw and enhanced artistic experience.”
